Teacher Behavior
Teacher behavior is vital to the success of a student. The teacher can act too friendly and the class cannot get any learning accomplished (Levin and Nolan, p. 108). However, a teacher can be strict but positive and allow students to reach their potential when they are learning. If a teacher is not serious or organized the students will not take the teacher seriously and this will cause learning to become stagnate. Students can be intimidated by teachers and it is important to be personable with students. An example of this is when classes are changing, instead of sitting at your desk or socializing with other teachers to make an effort to talk individually to different students every day (Levin and Nolan, p. 108). This allows students to feel comfortable and as if you truly care about what they have happening in their life. I really like the concept because I want my students to feel comfortable asking me questions, coming to my room if they ever need extra help, and I want them to know how passionate I am about teaching. If I do not act passionate about my job it could turn students away and they could think that I did not care, which in turn would make them not care. I also believe that not sitting in my desk and constantly being on my feet is important. This keeps students awake and they have to stay on task because it is easier for me to check on them frequently. If I am not serious about my job why would the students be serious about theirs?
